A Simple V-Day
I'm so sorry that I've yet to complete my blogpost on my Christmas Trip... been busy preparing for my mid semester exams...but don't worry...It'll be up soon... Here, have some ice-cream dumpling...
Anyway..last Monday was Valentine's Day and it was basically the first time I celebrated V-Day with my gf. But since we were both busy preparing for mid-term exams, we didn't really plan for anything special. We did planned to go out for a movie on Sunday night since gf was supposed to have class on Monday evening. However, an announcement came to cancel her Monday evening class so we scrapped Sunday night plans and spent some time studying on Sunday so that we won't have much guilt on Monday evening.
Still, it was too late to make any plans and reservations with restaurants. In addition to that, budget was a little tight since I spent a bit for my friend's wedding gift a few days before that. In the end, we decided to go for a simple dinner at one of a well known buffet steamboat in Kuching, D11.
The place is hallal and you'll see a number of Muslims eating there, be it a family feast or a gang reunion. On V-day, we were not the only couple eating there and we were lucky to have a good table without any booking.
Although some might say it's a 'cheap' choice...I do have to highlight that I'm a full time student now. Plus, we had a great time eventhough it's just a buffet date. Of course I'd love to spend V-day at a lavished place but in the end, as long as you have a great time, that's enough.
Talking about great time on V-Day, I'd like to comment a few things la. I'm not going to comment on the fatwa things because I don't think spending a great time with your love violate any religous law. But what I want to highlight is on how some of my single friends kept on lamenting about V-Day as the worst day and etc... Don't mention having a very bad day if you haven't been there...so shut the fuck up...
Valentine's Day might be defined as a day where a couple spend a lovely time falling in love over and over again. Although it is true, it should not be a day reserved for couples. In fact, couples should take everyday as Valentine's Day!! 14th February, Valentine's Day should, I dare say, always be, wait for it, celebrated by the singles....Why?
I'm not trying to remind you guys for being all lonely and feeling dejected... Instead, Valentine's Day is a great day for you to step up, fill in your guts and march to the person you like...and ask him/her to go out. It's Valentine's Day!!?!?!? You don't need another reason to ask him/her out... You don't need to make up some funny/weird pick-up line... Just lean over, ask him/her out for a lvoely night simply because it's a Valentine's Day... Seriouly, Valentine's Day is not just a day to be celebrated by couples, but a special day for us to fall in love..those out of love to be in love...for those in love to fall in love over and over..for those searching for love not to be lost anymore...for us to simply show our love to the person we care and love.... Byah!!

Christmas Trip: Part 4
The next day, it started off badly. Due to some misunderstanding, we thought we're supposed to use the road to Ulu Pendaruan instead of Pendaruan... Pendaruan is after the town area while Ulu Pendaruan is before town area. Our GPRS could not detect the mistake due to some error (the thingy said unable to calculate). We drove to Ulu Pendaruan road, but as we went on, we realized the road was getting smaller and lousier. In the end, we stopped to ask for directions...the the guy telling us the direction was not good in it either. He just said you go straight, go left, go right and something like that... but the key word he said was the old airport. From there, dad knew we were supposed to drive up furthermore from town instead of going east direction.
So we made a U-turn, which turned worse since there was a traffic problem going to town center. There was an event organized by the Education Department and we were moving very slowly. Usually it will take 20-30 minuted from the point we made the U-turn....but instead we spent nearly 2 hours crawling. Luckily, the traffic went smooth right after town area. We drove on and finally went to a crawl again at the ferry area.
Yeah...we still have ferry operating there because neither Malaysia nor Brunei wants to build a brigde there. The funny part is, the river is so small that I can swim over in one breath. The ferry operating was small too, with a capacity of 10 cars per direction. If there are lorries, it'll be just 2 lorries per direction....and if you put another ferry next to the other ferry, you'll have a portable bridge. Seriously, we need a bridge there.... Somehow, there weren't many cars at that time and we were only there for 30 minutes. On normal busy day, you can get stuck for 2-3 hours.
After the ferry point, we were practically in Brunei again..Trusan. The road was once again smooth and straight most of the time. But another issue rose when we basically missed the immigration check point. You see, usually the check point will be blocking the road itself like toll points. But this Puni Immigaration Check Point was by the road side. You basically have to turn into a junction first. For first timers, you might miss the check point because you'll be travelling at high speed (smooth and straight road ba..) and reach the Brunei-Lawas check point without getting a stamp for getting into Brunei. So you'll end up driving back again for another 40-50 minutes to reach Puni Immigration Point. We were lucky because I saw 'Puni Immigration Point' on the GPRS...so we just missed the check point by 20-30meters.
At the check point also troublesome...we had to fill in declaration form and etc... I mean we didn't fill such thing when we were entering Bandar Seri Begawan..and Trusan is just like a small town. The guys there didn't even bother to put guidelines on what to fill and how to fill in the forms. So we were stuck there 10-15minutes copying others filling in their forms. Haiaya...
After going off the Lawas-Brunei(Trusan) check point...we drove on and took a break at Lawas town...It was already noon...

Failed attempt...
The last time I was asked to open a locked door was 5-6 years ago.... and last week, I was called into action again. My housemate brought the wrong keys instead of his door keys and thus, he locked himself out of his room. Being rusty, I was in a bit of a doubt because it has been a long time. But yeah...I managed to open the door in 2 minutes...
So a little while ago, when I was called in again, I was a little confident because I still got it...but aiya.... I tried 5 'keys' but they all could not do the trick.... In the end, I used the final trick....knocking off the door knob... problem solved but I still failed in doing a proper 'break-in'.... byah!!

Christmas Trip: Part 3
By now..we're halfway in Limbang and it's not that far between the border to Limbang town. My gf's house is along the way, roughly 15-20 mins from town center. So as I drove along the road, I kept an eye for my gf's junction. Don't really the place ba. It's all different there. Houses are scattered here and there and most of them are on stilts. In addition to that, houses are built on huge land with fruit trees and paddy field(s) around the area.
Then I saw the juction, the juction to my 'future'. I was kind'da nervous because I don't really know what to do and say when I meet my gf's family. Plus, my gf told me not to mention about marriage, booking or anything sounds like that. The main conversation will be more on asking for the green light to be a bf-gf relationship. Her parents are particular about it because they don't want her to lose her focus on studying. I takut salah cakap ba.... and also takut my parents salah cakap... dub dub dub dub...my heart...aiya...
We reached Purnama Hotel a lil past noon. We all unpack, refresh and some time out. I took a nap (2 hours..ahhaha) and when I woke up, it was raining cats and dogs. We were supposed to reach my gf's place at 4pm but by that that, rain was still pouring. A few sms later, we went off at 5pm....and I was a nervous wreck. I didn't really look at the road, was already on auto-pilot. I kept on rewinding on what to say...what might happen if case 1, case 2 or case 3 and so on. Then.... we were in my gf's compound. My dad was and is still impressed with the place. A simple house on stilts with fruit trees around the house and a fish pond (for food). They also rear pigs and chickens for food and selling, and cats and dogs to guard the compound.
Fast forward, it went well. We talked about this and that...about Limbang... about Lunbawang... about the fruit trees and stuffs like that. They invited us for dinner and it was lovely. A lot of lovely food on the table, some I've eaten, some I've not and some I don't eat. For that night, I tried most of them to at least show them that I am trying to fit in. I wanted to cook earlier but my gf's sister was on the stove and they don't really want us to do anything except sitting around talking and eating cakes...and yeah, they made their own cakes for Christmas...
After dinner and some after-dinner talk, came the big issue. To be honest, I didn't really have the gut to talk about it but my dad insisted on it....and dad was the one who brought up the issue. Again, I was nervous because my dad can be a little too straight and transparent.... nabes..nabes... and the moment came....for my gf's father to reply... with a little help... he gave the green light!!! wohoo... well, it doesn't mean I can get married or anything..but at least my gf and I have the blessing from both our parents..and it felt good...still do...
By 10pm plus...we went off because we were going off to KK the next morning. It was a great night.......
