Rewards

Maybe it's because I fucked up since 2000 until now, I kinda feel that I'm not rewarded for what I do... I mean, when I said I need a new laptop, my parents told me to fork out my own money... when my sister said she needed a laptop, they bought one... and when she lost it a week later, they bought a new one.. for my case, I forked out 1k and my parents came up with another 2k for my brother to buy a laptop..that was in 2002..and in 2008, the very same laptop was given to me..a hand down laptop..already 6 years old.... it's about time for me to get a new one especially I'll be in my final year soon.... I know a laptop is not cheap and apparently I have some money..so I was like ok la...dun want to burden my parents...

Then today, my mom bought a new camera for my sister...a reward for her since she managed to get into Dean's list in her final semester... Ok la rite..a reward... but.. but.... I was never treated something like that... and it's getting unfair... you can say that I'm 28 now so if I want anything, I should them myself... but when I was younger, I was never given such thing as well.. as far as I remember, my parents only bought me a mobile phone back in 2000... after that, I work to buy my own things..like handphone... things to wear...bags..shoes... I earn everything I wanted and do.... things are going too easy for my sister... fair? don't think so...

FUCK holidays

Yeah...and I'm gonna type it again..FUCK holidays!! I find it degrading, depressing and all the shitty negative things...to be stuck at home... jaga rumah.. do house chores... making sure everything is neat and tidy.. cooking.... laundry.. I am the one at home for most of the time during holidays, while my younger SISTER goes out most of the time... she hardly do any house chores and I think my dad is kinda confused because he has to lecture house chores and being at home to my sister..coz it's so wrong... coz he's supposed to be lecturing me and not my sister... wat to do rite??

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz........

Can't sleep and later I'll need to drive to Saratok..it'll be a 4-5 hours drive and it's a day trip..meaning I'll be riding 8-10 hours on the road... aduh aduh... susah nya mok tido..nvm...force myself to sleep and wake up at 5... dat's like 3 hours away..haiya...BYah!!!!

Honestly

....I don't really have the feel to blog anymore. I find it hard to edit and re-edit until the words sound right. At times, have to delete some posts due to sensitive matter (I even deleted 2 blogs okay). Initially, I always think of my blog as a place for me to express what I think on certain issues and things. It's like posting my opinion online to share with millions and millions of blog readers out there. Years ago we don't hear people get sued for commenting an issue or opinion but now it can become a source of living.

I always feel that writing and blogging can help one to express what's inside. For me, I even assume that blogging in English will help me to improve my English and I do think it can help others as well.... Ooops.. I ran out of ideas.. Byah!

1 month to go...

Yup... Of course I'll be seeing my gf on my way to KK... but it'll be one month away until she comes back to Kuching. Holidays ma.. can't do much. Plus, she won't be able to spend Christmas from next year onwards due to the change in academic calender. What to do rite? Miss her? Of course la..but have to tahan.. plus, we're like competing who's gon'na lose weight the most this holidays.. The biggest loser will kena spon watch movie..hehehe...Byah!!

Hanging out wil ol' buddies

Last week (24/11), Syah and Terry came back from Manchester and Bintulu respectively. Don't get me wrong, they're from here but they're just earning elsewhere. Usually Syah comes back once a year while Terry, he doesn't really have a reason to come to Kuching since his family is in Sibu. But he came back when he heard Syah was coming to town. They are my best friends and last week we spent the days hanging out and of course catching up on things. We were joined by Andy and occasionally by Isaac and Wei Hin as well.

Terry only came back for 3 days, so we had dinner on Thursday night at One Jaya Mall. Apparently they have Bukit Mata Seafood there on top floor.

After dinner at Bukit Mata, we went off to Senso, Hilton to chill out a lil..

But we found the place a lil' boring that night, so we went off to another place. After Terry left on Friday, hanging out means just Andy, Syah and me (and my gf). On Friday night we went to Victoria Arms, Merdeka Palace. The place have cool band and atmosphere. The downside are that there are a lot of mature people, lesbians and the expensive drinks. Nevertheless, we had a great time there.

It was a great few days, talking, laughing, and reflecting back on the good ol' days. Sadly we can't stick in one place together. Each and everyone of us will follow our own path and I guess it is supposed to be like that, coming back together, chat, chill and be merry.. Byah!!

Been busy

Well, yeah..I've been busy lately with chores and of course my best friend came over last week..so I've been around. What's new?? Well, Christmas mood is in the air yeah... I was at Kota Sentosa just now and shops were playing Christmas songs.. WOW!

What's up? If everything goes well, I'll be driving up north to KK this hols and probably spend Christmas in Bintulu. I've made new IC and I think I'll renew my passport next week. Aiyah...BYah!!

Need some sleep

Earlier today, had my final paper for this semester - Engineering Economy. Out of all the courses I'm taking this semester, I have to say this is the course I'll most likely fail. Well, I can just fail all except for Marketing (carry marks enough for C+) but logically, only my Engineering Economy and Maths 3 are the likeliest. I do hope I won't fail any this semester, 'coz I usually fail one paper for 1st semester. And IF I do fail any in this semester, I guess it'll be better for me to extend 1 semester so that I won't hurt my CGPA any further. Well, this semester is over and I'm hoping for the best.

With the semester over, next I'll concentrate on cutting some curve and weight. The target date for change will be 20th December, the scheduled date for my road trip to KK. It'll be KCH-MIRI-LIMBANG-KK-LIMBANG-BINTULU-SRI AMAN-KCH trip. Not to say I'm really looking forward for it, but I'll for sure do if my results (and my gf's) are good. Crossing fingers again...

That's that... I'm kinda' exhausted... need some sleep.... Later, hang on... Need to wait for my laundry.. then sleep..then DOTA..then badminton...BYah!!

Taking a Break

My final examinations will start next week, so I'll be away for a while from this blog. But I'll try to update if I have the chance... Ok Orait!! Byah!!

Project: River-Taxi Project_Part 7_Model Making

The materials being used for the model construction are polystyrene and cardboard. The selection of these materials is based on the availability of the material, the reliability, affordable in terms of cost and the ease of handling. Polystyrene and cardboard are among the most commonly used materials for a model development and can be bought from any stationery shop. Although these materials have less strength compared to metal, wood or fiberglass, they are dependable and have some advantages for certain criteria. For example, the polystyrene does not absorb water (some wood does) and it also can easily float due to the lightweight (low density). These criteria are the beneficial advantage in the construction of the boat hull or the lower deck for the river taxi model.

Another reason for selecting polystyrene and cardboard as the material for model is the handling equipment. Handling equipment is a very important aspect to be considered in the construction process of the model. It is use to reshape, cutting or joining the material (polystyrene and cardboard) into the desired form. Among the handling equipment being used in the construction of the model is a penknife (cutter), scissors, hot glue, adhesive tape and double-sided adhesive tape. All these handling equipment are easily operated and available.

During the construction process of the model, there are a few methods of joint being used. Each joining methods used are choose based on the required type of joint, the effects on the worked surface (any reaction with material) and the flexibility. The joining method used is such as adhesive bonding, whereby a hot glue or adhesive tape is applied on the contacting surface to be joined. However, there is some type of adhesive bonding such as super glue could not be used as it will erode the material used (polystyrene) due to the chemical content.

Project: River-Taxi Project_Part 6_Material for the hull

Selecting the right material for the hull of boat or any other water transportation is crucial. The information about the material should be revised a few times before it could be selected. Selecting the wrong material may causes flaw in the design and disaster.

In selecting the right material for the hull, three common materials in boat manufacturing are selected to decide which material the most suitable for the design. The materials are wood, aluminium and fibreglass. All sort of aspect should be studied in order the come out with the most suitable material. The characteristic of the wood, aluminium and fibre glass are listed as below:

Wood
Wood usually been seen as the material for the boat. Wood has good floatation, increasing the buoyancy of the river taxi. Besides that wood is strong material and it is flexible, making it easy to be altered in shape. However wood have its own weakness, which is rotting. From the interview made, a boat that uses wood it could sustain up to 10 to 15 years only before the wood rots.

Aluminum
Aluminium is lightweight and this is crucial for the river taxi design. Additionally, aluminium has good strength and it does not rot. However there are still weaknesses in aluminium, which is corrosion. Corrosion is chemical phenomenon that occurs on metal. Not only it would make the appearance of river taxi bad, it also causes leaking to the hull.

Fibre glass
The use of fibreglass in boat manufacturing becomes very popular nowadays. This mainly due to its strength property, which is relatively strong. Besides, fibreglass is also durable compared to wood or aluminium. On the other hand, fibreglass is economical and affordable and this is the factor why fibreglass is widely used nowadays. Fibreglass is a type of polymer; therefore it would not corrode or rot.

As for conclusion, the suitable material to be chosen for the hull is fiberglass. Fibreglass has greater advantages for safety, buoyancy and maintenance.

Project: River-Taxi Project_Part 5_ Problems Regarding River Taxi

Batang Lupar is famous for its tidal bore phenomena that attract a lot of tourist from all over the world. However, in developing river taxi design for this region, the tidal bore itself would be a major problem. The tidal bore can cause problem towards the conventional private boat or express boat if the skipper is not well versed on Batang Lupar. In addition to that, there are not many-experienced skipper around.

The velocity of the river flow that is not uniform means it is hard to determine the suitable engine’s horsepower. Additionally there are debris scattered along the river, especially upstream. Due to this, boat users have to navigate slowly to avoid hitting debris that could cause danger to the boat users.

The formation of sandbanks at several areas especially near to Pulau Seduku limits the boat traffic beyond the area. Boats can only pass through the area during high tide and high-tide only last for 2 hours. After that, the level will be too low and considered unsafe for boaters to pass through.

Other problem associated with the river taxi development is the scattered settlement of the Sri Aman residents. It is important for us to measure the distance required for the river in order to determine the size of fuel tank and the size of the boat itself.

Finally, the cost of building the new river taxi must be considered. From economic point of view it is important to communicate with the client at the early stages so that changes could be made earlier to avoid extra cost and increase the saving towards the cost. Since there are a lot of problems to be tackled by the new design, the cost to solve them will be quite significant. Additionally, the number of demand of the customer is important in order to estimate the utilization of the new river taxi.

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

CFD is the numerical solving of partial differential equations on a discretized system that given the available computer resources best approximates the real geometry and fluid flow phenomena of interest. It is also the science of predicting fluid flow, heat and mass transfer, chemical reactions, and related phenomena by solving numerically set of governing mathematical equations.

Quality Functional Requirement (QFD)

QFD is also known as The House of Quality, which is the method for structured product development. It specifies customer needs clearly and evaluate each product capability in terms of its impact on meeting customer needs. This theory is applied by utilizing the House of Quality. The main features of QFD are focus on meeting market needs by using actual customer statements (voice of the customer), its effective application of multidisciplinary teamwork and the use of a comprehensive matrix (called the House of Quality) for documenting information, perceptions and decisions.

Ergonomic

Ergonomics or human factors theory that concern with the interaction between human and technology. Ergonomics integrates knowledge delivered from the human science to match systems, environments, jobs and products to the physical and mental abilities and limitation of people.

Project: River-Taxi Project_Part 4_ Sri Aman Town

Sri Aman is a small town, located around 194 km from Kuching. Formerly known as Sri Aman, it is the 2nd division in Sarawak. Currently, there are 90600 residents scattered all over the division, especially along the river because the river was once the main part of transportation (water transportation) and most areas are reachable by river. Source of income for Sri Aman is agricultural production: rice (along Batang Lupar), palm oil production, pepper, rubber and tourism. Tourism in Sri Aman is centered mainly on Batang Lupar.

Batang Lupar is stretch from Kelingkang Range to South China Sea and the length is around 275km. It is along this river the famous Bujang Senang (a huge crocodile) was found and later shot dead. In fact, Batang Lupar is famous for crocodiles and most crocodiles can be seen sunbathing along the riverbank. Despite the danger posed, crocodiles in Sri Aman are one of tourism attraction and there will be a sanctuary park specially made for the crocodiles in Pulau Seduku.

Other than crocodiles, other tourism attraction along Batang Lupar are Pesta Benak (regatta, benak surfing), tidal bore sighting, Gunong Lesong (for a scenic viewof Batang Lupar), eco-fish (at Batang Ai), Taman Benak and historical sites like Fort Alice and Fort Leonora.

A new attraction proposed to increase number of tourists is the River-Taxi. With the River-Taxi, tourists will be able to ride safely along the river to observe crocodiles, floras and other beautiful scenes. In addition to that, tourists will be able to experience riding the benak and able to reach rural areas to visit Iban longhouses. Other than for tourism purposes, the River Taxi might be able to once again be a source of public transportation for locals.

Course evaluation by Miguel

This semester is quite challenging for me even though I'm only taking 7 courses. I'm already in my 13th academic week and my first paper will be on the 8th November 2010, that's like so soon eh... What'cha gonna do?? Hopefully I'll do enough to complete this semester without any hiccups and crossing my fingers for some good grades. Some are ok, some are hard and some I don't really know what to say.... I'm ranking them as below with the last one being the hardest:

1) Principles of Marketing

It's a complimentary course and for finals, the weight is only 30%. I do hope I have a high carry marks coz I really need a good grade from this course to balance up my grades. PLus, this is a 4 credit hours course so an A will give a huge impact on my grades. For finals, there will be MCQ and essay..so should be ok.

2) Engineering Ethics

TO be honest, this is a course which I can't really rate because it's a very subjective course. Only essays for finals and marks will be based on my lecturer's view of my answers. I am quite lucky to get 35/50 for my carry marks because a lot of people did not do well in the mid semester exams. At the very least, the lecturer did mention that he will at least give us a C because he doesn't want to see us again next semester.

3) Manufacturing System

This subject is again quite challenging. I did not do that well for my mid semester but I did not fail it la. I do hope my assignments are enough to give me a carry mark above 30/50..I can only keep my fingers crossed. The thing about this course is that the earlier semester, it's more on theories and now it's more on calculations. In the finals, only chapter 7 to 14 will be covered, meaning most of the questions will be calculation based. The hard part is that there will be no equation given, so I have to memorize them all.

4) Solid 1

Honestly, this subject is not that difficult but it's easy to fail this course. One small mistake will cost a lot in terms of marks and there are a lot of calculations involved. The only way to study this course is by doing a lot of exercises. I managed to pass my mid semester exams and I do hope my assignments will play a huge role in giving me a good carry mark.

5) Engineering MAths 3

The first half of this course is not that hard but the second half is a whole new world for me. I am confident that I did well in my mid semester exams but there's still Test 2 next week. Hopefully I can do enough to give myself a good carry mark.

6) Engineering Economics

This is supposed to be an easy core subject but it didn't turn that way. My lecturer is a real engineer with JKR and he is very strict with everything and I mean everything. If you write 6% instead of 0.06, he'll give you zero marks. Everything must be perfect in order to AVOID ZERO marks...Gilo...

There is another course, Engineering Design, but there won't be final assessment for the course. We only have mid semester exam, assignments and one main project for this course. Although I should have done enough to pass, I'm hoping for a good grade for this course....Overall, it's a difficult semester but I'm still hoping for good grades here and there...Byah!!!

108 - 98

That's the bowling card score between my gf and I, mine with 98..hahaha. I think it's the first time she's beaten me but hey, it's just a game. It's been quite some time since I last bowl..the same goes to her. For her, it's the first time she's scored more than 100 pin falls...Well done!

Other than bowling, played pool and had KBOX session with my gf yesterday. Not a special day, but I was trying to ease some steam off myself. Been going through a lot of things (academically) and yesterday I was a little disappointed with how I fared with my Engineering Design Test/Exam.

I won't be so disappointed if can't do well or if I sit for an exam unprepared. When you know you've done little, you won't be aiming so high. As for this morning, I did fairly enough preparations and the calculation questions that came out were relatively similar to the ones I did during my revisions. In fact, I felt confident on the calculation part.

However, thinking back on how I really did this morning, I realized that I made 2 silly mistakes. Aduh aduh aduh..... macam biasa, I have to depend on my theory section for marks.... I'll be thankful if I can get more than 50%... I'm crossing my fingers..hehehe... BYah!!

Project: River-Taxi Project_Part 3_Personal visit to Sri Aman

It's an advantage for me when I first knew about this River-Taxi project. Yala, Sri Aman is my mum's hometown so I can reach quite a number of people for information. It's even better since my mum's longhouse is along one of the tributaries (Undop, Lemanak, Skrang and Batang Ai) of Batang Lupar. So during the Raya holidays, I went off to Undop to interview a few locals.

Sungai Undop is further upriver of Batang Undop. The river is quite shallow but quite wide. The flow is quite fast (rapid) and there are a lot of dead tree trunks here and there. In addition to that, the river is nothing like Batang Lupar. Undop have clear water (in the picture it's not so clear because every time it rains, muddy water from logging will pollute the river) and it's with rocks rather than mud.

Thus, it is quite hard for one to use power boats but some do use small boats to fish and travel by short distance to their orchard. However, the scenery of flora and fauna along the river is breathtaking. It's no surprise that tourist do come over to the longhouse to stay for a night (home-stay).

Boats for locals to town is not necessary because it's a lot easier to go by road but if we view it in terms for tourism, then it's worth a shot. However, it's not that easy to do due to the depth of the river...How now???? Byah!!!

Project: River-Taxi Project_Part 3_Travel Log to Sri Aman

On the 19th August, we (Brian, Jong and I from Group 10, Stroyan and Raddy from Group 9) went to Sri Aman as part of our project requirements. We aimed to be able to conduct survey sessions at designated schools and random interview session with some of the locals. Designated schools are SMK St. Luke, SMK Simanggang and SMK Sri Aman. However, we did not conduct survey session at SMK Simanggang due to technical reasons. Brian and I conducted the survey sessions while Jong joined the guys from Group 9 to interview locals at the waterfront. In the end, we went home on the 20th August, satisfied with our trip to Sri Aman. Below is the journey log of our trip:

19th August

6.25 pm – Picked up Brian, Raddy and Stroyan from BRC and then Jong from Cempaka.

6.30 pm – Went off from UNIMAS after double-checking everything.

8.15 pm – Reached Serian. We stopped for dinner because if we continue on to Sri Aman, it’l be 11pm plus. There might be any eatery open at that time, it’s not like Kuching. If you look closely, we reached Serian after an hour plus drive from UNIMAS. Standard driving time to Serian from Kuching is 45 minutes. Thanks to someone, we spent 30 minutes looking for Berita Harian…..hahahaha…boh marah….enjoy… For dinner in Serian, Jong ordered kangkung belachan, deer meat, stewed pork leg, vege-soup and of course..rice.

9.20 pm – Went off from Serian. Raddy nearly got left behind hadn’t it for Jong to inform me that Raddy was not in the car. Sorry Raddy..sik sengaja bah….. Ney la aku tauk ko gik di jamban… Anyway, our jouney from Serian to Sri Aman was not so smooth. The road was dark and it was a rainy night. I had to drive slower, about 80km/hr…..

11.30 pm – Finally we reached Sri Aman (Jong and Raddy muntah..hahaha..tedah). We stayed at Hotel Taiwan, quite cheap la…. Each of us basically spent RM15 for accommodation. For a spring bed, aircond, tv, hot shower and fresh towel…ok wat…. I was soaking wet since I went to offload the stuffs from my car. Dah la sikda mbak spare short pants…huhuhu….

11.50 pm - After we all went for a warm shower (not together-gether okay..), off we went around town looking for supper. We went to a coffee shop but we’re not warmly welcomed. Maybe because we didn’t order beer like other tables. Only Brian and I had something to eat. The rest just ordered drinks… well, we eventually ordered beer, but tapau to our room la. The plan was to drink beer while discussing on who’s doing what and where….mok bincang cara US la tek…. But due to fatigue, we all tido terus lepas minum…ahahahah…

1.00 am - zzzzzz...dah 20th pun...

20th August

7.00 am – Rise and shine everybody….. Stroyan was the last one to get up… But it’s not so important for him (and for Jong and Raddy) to wake up early because they only need to interview a couple of locals and that’s it. For Brian and I, we needed to go to 3 schools.

8.00 am – Off we went to SMK St. Luke. Although I’ve been to Sri Aman a gazillion times, I don’t really know the roads. We just agak agak…hahahha..nasib I printed out a map (TQ google earth..)

8.10 am – Reached SMK St. Luke…Phew..that wasn’t so bad eh… nasib Sri Aman town is a small town…. We went to their office and we warmly welcomed by the staffs. The school principle was out for a meeting, so the Penolong Kanan entertained us. A very nice fellow and he even went on to conduct the survey session for us… Brian and I just jadi tukang pegang form jak…hahahaha…

8.45 am – Semua done…we thanked the Penolong Kanan and we’re off to the next school, SMK Sri Aman…

8.50 am – Thanks to Penolong Kanan SMK St Luke, we didn’t waste a lot of time looking for SMK Sri Aman. Again we were warmly welcomed by the staff (they expected us ba..we faxed and called all schools a few days before coming over). It’s meeting day for all school principles, so the Penolong Kanan again la…. He’s kinda sik hal sik hal type of person..meaning we can do whatever la….and he didn’t really stay with us for long….after showing which classes available for survey session, he went off… sik hal….ok juak….

9.40 am – We wanted to finish SMK Sri Aman before class break but sik sempat… Most teachers preferred us to conduct the surveys by end of class session ba.. That’s why lambat done… Next up, SMK Simanggang….

10.15 am – I basically don’t know where is SMK Simanggang…. I only knew it’s near Jalan Kelab…So I just drove around aimlessly..ikut nasib jak…. Mot of the time we turned right at junctions..and tada!!!! Jumpa sudah….. At SMK Simanggang, things were different… We were escorted to the school office by the guards (rasa betul2 outsider eh..).. Sampai di office, we had to wait for 15 minuted because someone was with the school principle (I tot it’s hari meeting principle eh..ponteng ka??) After waiting and waiting..baru dapat jumpa… The thing is, he didn’t know we’re coming (tapi his staffs tauk pulak..sapa yg sik kerja tok???)..and bla bla bla….. technicalities forbid us to conduct our survey..so we went off to waterfront area with a lil of perasaan kecewa…

11.00 am – Meet up the rest at waterfront…sedang berposing-posing….. yala..1 hour pun dah cukup for interview ba….. Off we went to our hotel, check out time 12 noon…

Noon – check out…. Before pulang..makan dulu mee dawai Sri Aman… sedap wooo……

1.00 pm – Time to pulang…….

1.50 pm – Reached Lachau..stopped over for some refreshments and buang air air di jamban….

2.00 pm – Bergerak lagi…to Serian…. Hujan also la…

3.15 pm – Pit stop at Serian…mok kemeh ba….bocor kelak… kejap jak..then terus jalan to UNIMAS

4.05 pm – Sampai UNIMAS…..sempat gik Raddy and I turun kelas….

Well….that’s all la perjalanan. Overall, fun also….. Penat juak la.. Byah!!!

Dear You_2

Hi there,

Well, nothing much really. Just want to tell you that pressing the 'UP' button multiple times will not make the lift come down any faster. You are not playing an online sex game....you're not playing DOTA.... it's not the same as clicking your mouse. So please la, as an engineering student...a professional student... think like one.

Byah!!

Dear You_1

To whom it may concern,

In order for one to be Justin Bieber, you need to be:

1) barely teenager
2) can sing and dance a little
3) hang out with guys to dig chicks
4) white
5) male

Out of the basic 5 requirements, you only meet number 3. So basically you're just a person thinking yourself still a teenager, someone who can't sing or dance, not white but colored and you don't have a dick. So if you think this post is for you, WAKE UP!

p/s: I'm getting annoyed with this Bieber-mania....

Tonight's EPL Score (Game 6)

....ada lagi tomorrow..BYah!!

Raya 2010

Been wanting to post this but baru now ada masa... My Raya for this year, can say a lil' disorganized on my part. I didn't plan to visit any friends on the 1st day because I have tonnes of work to do even though I was on Raya break. I planned to go visiting on the 2nd day because most of my friends only open house on 2nd day and I don't feel like driving around Kuching for both days.

However, on the first day I ended up home alone. That's sangat different from last year's Raya 'coz usually I'm the one out visiting. I was so damn bored that I decided to go visiting...but to whoz house???? I ingat want to visit some of my UNIMAS mates together with Ik but he didn't reply my sms. Just when I was about to go for my afternoon nap, Ik replied. He's having open house at his aunt's place. So I went there with another 4 mates..and we (together with Ik) went on to visit another 4 houses. By the time I pulang rumah, it was 11pm (we started late, at 4pm). So that was the first day.

Second day Raya was the real deal...although I have to admit I was uncertain about the whole thing. You see, the 2nd day plan was done by Swinburne mates..my juniors la... so I was not really sure if they really welcome my participation in their convoy. Only on the 2nd day itself (morning) I manage to confirm my participation, thanks to Donald.

1st house, as usual...rumah Speul in BDC.... convoy owez starts from BDC. Next up rumah gerek Alda...big house really..cuma too big and too many people, rasa macam makan di kedai jak. After that, we went to Nutt's house and Aspa (rumah sebelah Nutt). By then I was full to the brim.... Wanted to go home but I don't really know the way out of the area...So I had to join them until I reach familiar scene.

Next up...rumah ..erm..rumah sapa owh? Don't really know her but she's the daughter of YB Senator Idris Buang (masuk paper aku)...and after that rumah beeb beeb... By then..it was 6pm and I was more than stuffed.. Lepas ya barulah pulang...

*This post was supposed to be longer and with pictures but I am currently very busy, not much time and yala tek..malas mok type.... Byah...

Focus..focus....

I've been trying to work on my maths tutorials since last night but I can't really focus. The best I did was to open the first tutorial and do the first question... and that was it. Maybe I was a little too tired so okay la...

But today? Apa my excuse? Too hot? Suddenly too humid coz the rain came down for a while and now the heat is all over the place??? Aduh aduh aduh....Damn....Byah!!

My Tadika Life

My first formal education was in Tadika Kenyalang (which year owh???), it’s located opposite a row of 4D outlets. At that time, can say 90% tadika in Kuching (Sarawak also) ajar ppl using Chinese medium. So back then, I was really lost among others la..semua budak budak cina… luckily my neighbor also attend the same tadika….I don’t know his name but everybody call him Boy. I think he’s in Singapore now jadi technician or something like that.

Anyway, when I first attended school…. I was not so over-awed with the situation. I didn’t cry and was not that bothered about whether my mum was there or not. But I was very very quiet and I could hardly make any friend (except for my neighbor, but he spent most of his time crying coz hez a cry baby). Like I’ve said, they’re Chinese and I’m Iban and we still basically speak in our own bahasa (I cakap Iban sampai Primary 1 woooo….).

I can’t really recall a lot but I do know at that time I know no shit about Chinese and I spent most of my time observing others. The only time I was really into class was during maths class. So at that time, I only speak Iban and numerics…bahasa Malaysia pun sik tauk….

During my time as a tadika kid…. I only remember the day my nose bled and the day I threw up on my class teacher (HAHAHAHA)…. The nosebleed incident occurred when I had a fight with Boy (my only friend that time wooo…). That eventful day, I was sick and tired of him crying. It was like our 2nd month in tadika and he can’t adjust to his mom not being around. So I told him he’s a crybaby and if he can’t stop crying, he should go home and never come back to tadika. He ugut (gila nak… kecik kecik dah pande ugut, dah la bapak nya polis) mok tumbuk me… so I told him to punch my face..and he did (padan muka saya..) ….and my nose pun berdarah. I’m not sure if I cried but won’t be surprised if I did la… I went to the class teacher and cerita lah itu incident. Maka his parents kena call…he kena marah… he nangis again…. And for me… his parents gave me gifts so that I won’t get angry and my teacher pun give free spiderman tumbler so that I stop crying (so I did cry eh..).

The muntah incident occurred when I was having a mild fever and I was on my way home. Back then, the tadika will provide van sekolah to send budak budak tadika home. Usually I’ll sit on a real sit, but on that day I was not fit enough to compete with others so I ended up sitting on a place I can hardly describe as a seat. Due to the spot, I was facing the back of the van and I was not used to it. That plus my mild fever, I ended up muntah on the teacher…HAHAHAHAHAHA….. I think she was the lesser favoured teacher in tadika..owez jerit jerit….. Padan muka….

Well..that’s about all regarding my tadika life… Next time la if ada masa, I post on my Primary school life… Byah!!!

New slepa...

Brand new slepa, bought them kat tempat Jewl kerja...well, bawah his office la...

Cun sik??? I know la they're sandals and not slippers... but to mua.. any footwear yang bukan kasut are slepa... peduli la if they're Crocs, Nike, Adidas, Asadi, Sandak... they're all slepa... Byah!!

Was a long Wednesday

It was the longest Wednesday I've ever been to, now I'm not going to complain about long lectures anymore. The story macam ini... A week before that, my lil sis used my car and basically tested the front bumpers with a RAV4... Of coz my ride menang la, both in terms of whoz tougher and whoz on the right side.

Unfortunately, the RAV4 guys are gangsters (according to story la) and in my car were my sister and her female frewns... So, bla bla bla..my sister yg perlu bayar... cis bedebah... Her mistake was... she went to the RAV4 guys punya bengkel, baru call me , asking on what to do... Since dah like that, mana can do anything rite?? Itu sebab, my parents had to fork out RM350 for the RAV4 repairs and another RM200 for my ride..

That's why I was at the workshop on Wednesday.... Just for some 'short' job on my bumper... I could have sent in my car and go off..pulang rumah ka..lepak with frens ka...but I waited there at the workshop because:

1) It's the same workshop yang link with the RAV4 guys

2) The place looks so shabby, it's more suited for drug activities rather than fixing cars..

3) I takut I sent Nissan Frontier in and get back Isuzu Invader '98..... Yala, mana tau they curi spare parts and put in some tin milo...

4) And I simply don't trust them there...

So I waited...and waited.... From 9am....to 11.30 am (break for lunch, I drove my car to MJC for lunch with Jewl)..and sambung again at 2pm... No wonder very to the slow... 1 guy basically repairs 4 cars...

Well, only ada boss and worker only ba...and the boss usually goes out to meet with suppliers and get suitable paint..

Finally, at 5pm, baru siap... The paint job finished at 4pm like that..but needed to wait an hour for the paint to dry... Aiseh..nasib the job was good...

Moral of the story... Jewl, mun first time jalan tempat ya..pake jak pakej... byah!!

10 AaaHhhhh

Other than sexual activities (like having sex, oral sex, kissing, caressing and sewaktu)..there are other things that will make you say 'AaaHhhh'..the sound after you feel kelegaan...

1) After a few hours on the road (like a bus trip from Serian - Sri Aman without any stop) and you've been holding your pee... when finally you stop and go for your wee wee.... 'AaaHhh'......

2) Some people might say "Oh damn shiet..." but I'm pretty sure ada 'AaaHhh' kat hujung hujung the cursing.... I'm talking about shittin' here foo..... hahaha..

3) Kehausan after running on the treadmill like those guys in 'The Biggest Loser'... once you get your first sip of isotonic drink..... that's what I'm talking about ya'll...

4) A cup of fresh arabica coffee after a few hours staring at the computer screen/doing real work...

5) After playing soccer, go to top floor Boulevard Kuching, pay RM2 and get yourself a massage on the OGAWA chair... (massage parlor even better...)

6) Take a sip of an aged red wine..slowly..and 'AaaHhh'....

7) Selepas berhempas pulas reaching your back, finally dapat garu the itchy spot..:P

8) A mug of Tiger beer right after work... how's that ya'll??

9) This is nearly sexual...... but it's not if you just stand and stare, at the sight of a very hot and sexy secretary bending over at the photostatting machine...

10) A long day at work, crappy seat, no increment, no beer, no sexy secretary, not much time to enjoy your daily routine in the toilet... too poor to eat great food and wine... the BEST sensation will have to be the moment you drop dead on your bed.... Goodnite folks... Byah!!!

Happy Malaysia Day

To me, today (16th Sept) is more significant compared to 31st August simply because it was on 16th September 1963 Sarawak and Sabah gained independence from British colony. It was on that day, Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore together with Malaya officially formed Malaysia... Again I'd like to stress here, together FORMED and not JOINED.

A lot of people, especially those of Peninsular Malaysia have the mentality that Sarawak joined Malaysia and thus that makes them wonder why Sarawak have their on bill of rights. I guess regardless of what historians and politicians have to say, the bill of rights that we have is a clear indication or bukti that we're a forming member and that's one of the things we asked for.

Just last night saw it on the news, a lecturer from a local university suggested that all the protocol things and limitations implemented on peninsular people coming into Sarawak, to be REMOVED!!! It's the STUPIDEST thing I've ever heard!! As soon as the special rights that we (Sarawakian) have are removed, that'll be the day we loses our identity as a forming member.

Don't get me wrong, we do welcome those from other states to come in... We have lot's of peninsular people as ketua jabatan or pengarah, even in some state gov posts... Even in UNIMAS we have quite a number of lecturers from the peninsular... We do need their knowledge (yes, most of them are more advanced than us here)..Just that there are things that we should reserve just for us. Sarawak is still a young state and most of us haven't receive what is fully ours. If others (those from other states) are given equal rights (e.g ability to acquire land titles) as us, then most of us here might be deprived of what is rightfully ours.

We are still very much 'slow', not because we want to..not because we are taking our sweet time..it's because most of are have yet to be reached. Maybe once Sarawak has become of a stronger state, then you guys out there can come in.... NOT.... it's our identity...we wont just give it away.... hahahaha... It's not a small matter...in metamorphosis terms..it's like asking one to pinjam or share his wife/her husband...

Well... I don't want to take away the gloss of today's celebration just because of some stupid remarks... So guys... Happy Independence Day...Happy Malaysia Day... Salute!

Home made Caesar Salad

This one is basically cheat code punya...coz Caesar Salad will have Romaine lettuce, salad dressing, croutons, Parmesan cheese powder and some meat (usually chicken breast, lamb or prawn). But my chicken boobs were still frozen, I haven't abducted lambs in Desa Ilmu and I was not in the mood to play with prawns...so I decided to make this one fully vege. As for croutons, I just ran out of bread and for Parmesan..dush dush...only ada cheddar..... So in the end, it's just Romaine Lettuce and salad dressing.... :P

Salad dressing for Caesar Salad is made of:

1) Egg yolks + cider vinegar + olive oil + salt + you beat them until kembang = home made mayo...

2) Add the product above with canned oiled anchovies

3) 1 + 2 + with black pepper and Parmesan cheese powder + mustard + beat them all up....

and PRESTO!! You have your Caesar Salad dressing..oh wait, you'll need to store them in the fridge for 12 hours... DESPAIR!! DESPAIR!!

Fear not..that's where ready made mayo comes in handy..ahaks... I simply don't fancy canned oiled anchovies because... I can make my own version of oiled anchovies... Just heat up some oil in a pan..while waiting, pound some dried anchoves but not until they're all mashed up like powder...just lenyek lenyek penyet.. Once the oil is hot, off the flame and throw in your pounded anchovies.. let them cool down and ten tambah mayo, salt and black pepper..don't forget, a pinch of love... PRESTO again!! Ada salad dressing...

So now, just gaulkan them both in a bowl and they're ready to serve... Byah!!

p/s: For more info, just email me..

Sri Lankan Induced Beef Curry

Now..before we go on...I'm not doing something disrespectful here. I do know most of them there (India, Pakistan, Sri Langka, Bangladesh and etc..) do not eat beef and I'm not making beef curry with 'Sri Langkan' in front to anger anyone. I am controversial, but I don't want any war. That's why I put 'induced' in the middle.

Here in Malaysia, Malays usually cook their beef by making them into rendang or masak kicap... To me they're way too thick and too oily, at times they're more towards sweet rather than spicy... Thus when I saw a couple of Sri Langkan recipes via TLC, I decided to adjust a little and thus call it Sri Langkan INDUCED Beef Curry. It's not entirely Sri Langkan style, I just like the part they use pandan leafs and curry leafs... their style of cooking made me come up with this recipe..

Anyway, for this dish I'm using ingredients available at my house; ginger, garlic, kayu manis, curry leafs, pandan leaf, beef cutlets, curry powder, turmeric paste, and some coconut milk (instant pun ok). Again I'm not going to tell you step by step, you have to email me for that. Basically I marinated some beef for 30 minutes with salt, curry powder and some lime juice. while waiting, blend ginger and garlic...add some cooking oil and chicken stock in (this will be half of the amount of kuah you want).

It's time to start cooking... heat some oil in a pot.. put in kayu manis, then pandan leaf and curry leafs... Don't wait until they're all burnt...once the aroma starts to rise, put in your blended stuffs. Also add in curry powder and turmeric paste..Let them all play together for 10 minutes or so (until starts boiling)..tambah garam and a pinch of love...Bila dah boil, then baru masuk in beef and lower the flame.

Some people prefer frying meat first before adding water or so on..... But that's not the correct way. According to Chef Sanji of Baratie, if you cook it that way, the taste of your meat will larut with the kuah..and thus the taste of meat will get all over the kuah and not in the meat itself. If you put in meat when the kuah boils, only the taste on the outer layer of meat will larut, but the inner part will still retain the taste...and so far I have to agree.

When the kuah starts to boil again, the meat dah masak...This is when we add the coconut milk...let it simmer for a while and there you go...sedap wooo.. Byah!!

Switch

Something different happened today...not weird but different for a change. Usually by 6pm, I'll either be in my room surfing or outside helping out my dad with his garden. Instead, today at 6pm I was in the kitchen preparing to cook and my lil sister outside helping dad with his plants. That's great for a change, once in a while I do want to cook for the family..Oh ya, mom was/is at work until 10pm.

I don't really mind cooking for the family. I used to cook for everyone when I was in secondary school and while waiting to enter matriculation. All the cooking, I have to thank my aunt for teaching me on how to cook pork porridge when I was still in Primary 3. How I love cooking..and my parents are quite lucky to eat what I cook... I'm pretty sure they don't know that I used to be the kitchen guy in some restaurant/cafe a few years back. They always thought I'm a waiter in some hotel or cafe to kill my time. Not only I used to cook as a source of income, I even set up the menu at the place I used to work!! Those are things executive chefs do in Restaurant Makeover (Astro - TLC)!! Too bad that after I left, sales went down and a year later the owners sold the business...

Anyway, what's for dinner today?? Quite a lot but I'll tell you more on my Sri Lanka induced Beef Curry and my home made Caesar Salad in my next post... Byah!!!

Project: River-Taxi Project_Part 2

Right now I'm in the process of dissecting the outcome of our survey in Sri Aman... The most significant information is shown below. From the picture, we can see out of 198 respondents, 59 of them stay near river while the other 139 stays in villages further in land or in town area.

Interestingly, we observe that out of those staying near river, only 23 respondents uses water transportation while 36 others do not use them. Reasons stated are concerns on the safety aspect of water transportation, the low or non-existent of public water transportation and the availability of roads from their houses to town. From respondents not living near river, we’re surprised that there are water transportation users among them, 32 of them. Of course the other 107 of them do not use water transportation because they don’t need to.

I expected more users from those staying near river and no user at all for those staying further inland... oh well..Byah!!

Masuk paper lagi...

I think it's only my 4th time masuk paper.... this time for a Raya visit to rumah YB Senator Idris Buang..was with Swinburne convoy for 2nd day raya...byah!!! suk ba..sakai...

Basikal tua......

I gave my bicycle to my lil sister a few years ago because all of a sudden she want to cycle with her friends....Fast forward to today, my bicycle is in an awful state at the veranda. My sister was only into cycling for 2 months and that's it. How sad I was when I took a look at my bicycle yesterday. Cycling has been one of my many hobbies and I used to cycle from BDC-Tabuan Jaya-BDC and even to Green Road area. Since I'm so far away from jogging again, I thought it'll be good if I start from cycling and then jogging when I'm a lil lighter.

So kesian my bike....sob sob... could hardly turn the wheels, rusty...

Mok tukar speed pun macam sik dapat..stuck 4th and 5th speed jak can..if nait bukit susah la..

Right pedal macam mok tercabut jak..ish ish ish....

The rim is quite rusty, but can sand paper one la....The bladders memang completely out la..hopefully tayar masih okay la...

Good news... the chains still okay and the bearings also okay..brakes pun ok..only need a lil oiling... so the major things I'll need to fix will be the tayar and gears... lupa also how to do it..last time slalu tuning tuning... nvm...my projek sampingan... Byah!!!
